The 71-year-old former head of the FSB was allegedly poisoned by a synthetic toxin, but managed to survive
Unknown people tried to kill Vladimir Putin’s “right-hand man”, Nikolai Patrushev, with a strong poison, according to what the Russian channel Telegram broadcasts.
The 71-year-old also serves as the deputy of the Russian president, while he is considered one of the planners of the war in Ukraine.
Patrushev was rushed to the hospital, where, according to Telegram, a powerful synthetic poison was detected in his body.
Putin’s close associate is a former head of the FSB secret service and secretary of the Kremlin’s security council.
According to the report presented by the Russian Media, the results of the toxicology tests revealed that Patrushev had been infected with a “synthetic poison”, but he ultimately survived the attempt on his life.
The former head of the FSB is widely seen as the man Putin hands over power to when he is away for medical treatment and is also a key architect of the war in Ukraine.
His son Dmitry, 44, is Russia’s agriculture minister and is seen by some experts as a possible successor to Putin.
