Jesenea Miron, 23, walked into Riverside University Health System Medical Center in Moreno Valley Thursday night and allegedly posed as a newly hired nurse.

A woman was arrested after she allegedly disguised herself as a nurse in an attempt to kidnap a newborn baby from a California hospital room last week, authorities said.

THE Jesenya Miron23, walked into Riverside University Health System Medical Center in Moreno Valley Thursday night and allegedly posed as a newly hired nurse, police said in a news release.

Miron, as the New York Post writes, gained access to the maternity ward by telling a patient she was a nurse and then allegedly tried to grab the newborn, according to the release.

She was confronted by hospital staff, who alerted security and the police. The alleged would-be baby abductor fled without the child and was arrested at a home in Moreno Valley, a town in Riverside County, California, officials said.

The 23-year-old woman was charged with kidnapping and is being held on $1 million bail, the release said. It was unclear what motivated the incident.

Hospital officials told KTLA they are evaluating their security procedures and will “investigate how the woman gained access to the patient’s room and how she interacted with the family.”
