Three people, including a French tourist, have died in the past 24 hours in Spain after being gored by bulls during bullfights in the Valencia region, rescue services said.
Two of the three victims, aged 50 and 56, were seriously injured on Tuesday in the suburbs of Valencia, where the traditional street bullfights are held every year.
The third, a 60-year-old French tourist, had been hospitalized since July 8 in critical condition after being attacked by the bulls in a village near Alicante.
Bullfights, a tradition in many Spanish cities, especially during the summer season, often result in the death of people, despite strict protocols in place to avoid such accidents. The most famous bull runs are those of San FermÃn, in Pamplona, where hundreds of people run with six bulls covering a distance of 850 meters through the cobbled streets of the city. This year, five people were injured by the bulls, but none were seriously injured.
