Here’s everything you need to know from the weekend (Image: SWNS/Reuters/Backgrid/BBC)

Is this the mirage we see? -No, this is a brilliant promise for the weekend!

It was the first week of record temperatures (let’s hope it doesn’t melt), catastrophic wildfires, and more political battles.

But to be honest, we’re a bit tired of living with the first ever, especially when it comes to the unmistakable signs of climate change associated with global warming.

I don’t blame you for just wanting to enjoy the weather, but I have to admit it was pretty hot this week.

The UK is not ready for 40°C and our infrastructure cannot handle it. Such records should be a wake-up call to all of us, especially those in power.

Away from the weather, the Conservatives’ leadership contest to decide who will be the cat’s new neighbor has been narrowed down to just two applicants.

And the BBC has revealed that it will pay “substantial damages” to those affected by the tactics used to secure a famous and highly controversial 1995 interview with Princess Diana.

Britain got caught up in the heat wave (Image: PA)

There’s been a lot of talk about this week’s weather, but most of it is the repetitive phrase “it’s hot,” for good reason.

Due to rising temperatures, the Met Office issued the first Level 4 red warning against extreme heat earlier in the week.

Temperatures started to rise last weekend and Tuesday was the hottest day in the UK.

Mercury reached 40.3°C in Coningsby, Lincolnshire, 1.6°C above previous records.

A total of 46 stations in the UK broke the previous UK record of 38.7°C, with temperatures exceeding 40°C for the first time.

Records were also set overnight, with Kenley Airfield in Greater London setting a new high and low temperature of 25.8°C. Not for nothing can anyone sleep.

Londoners were warned not to travel and all roads were closed as the heat caused travel problems.

Luton Airport flights grounded after the runway began to “melt”, with the RAF suspending all flights to and from Brize Norton, Oxfordshire for similar reasons.

When it’s hot, many go to the waterways and beaches to escape the heat.

Sadly, not everyone went home and reported that the ambulance crew died after people got into trouble underwater.

TL: DR: (loudly to the crowd behind) Climate change is real and action needs to be taken.

Britain is burning

Prolonged heat whitens green spaces and creates optimal conditions for the catastrophic effects of wildfires.

Large-scale fires have been reported in London, Norfolk, Suffolk, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire and South Yorkshire due to the ignition of dry fields and woodland.

The London Fire Brigade experienced its busiest day since the Second World War on Tuesday, with more than 2,600 incidents throughout the day.

Fortunately, no one was killed, but more than 40 homes and businesses were destroyed by wildfires and residential areas were destroyed.

Houses burned down, a movie-like cul-de-sac set in Dagenham, and people lost everything in Wennington.

Barnsley survived one of the worst fires, and six homes on Woodland Drive went up in flames after flames started in the backyard.

Locals battled the flames with a hose for 45 minutes before crews arrived, desperately trying to contain it in more homes.

Elsewhere in South Yorkshire, a serious fire raged in the town of Clayton, with 280 fires in Norfolk alone on Tuesday.

TL:DR: A week of dry weather has put the UK in a bucket

8 becomes 2 in run 10

Battle of Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss (Image: Reuters/LNP)

Only two candidates remain after eight candidates have suggested their names to replace Boris Johnson at number 10.

On Wednesday I learned that Rishi Sunak or Liz Truss would be the new prime minister.

The pair came in second after a Conservative vote for Penny Mordaunt.

Snacks handily won the contest with 137 votes, followed by Truss with 113 votes and Mordant with 105 votes.

The trio battled for the votes of former Equality Minister Cammy Badenoch, who lost 59 votes on Tuesday.

It’s hard to predict exactly who will win, but now bookies are loving the trusses.

The decisive role of who will replace Johnson in the 10 leadership and who will lead the country now falls to members of the Conservative Party.

It is not surprising how many people make important decisions that affect millions of people, but we know that they are not very representative of the entire country.

Conservative members are predominantly male, 40% of whom are 65 or older, 95% of whom are white, and most have richer, better-paying jobs.

They can also live in the south of England, which is double the total population of England.

We don’t know who won the contest until September, so stay tuned for more campaigns. Until then, I hope there are more moments like this.

A panoramic 1995 interview with Princess Diana makes headlines again

A famous and highly controversial interview with Princess Diana on BBC Panorama in 1995 returned this week as the broadcaster released the latest information on the subject.

In an interview with Martin Bashir, the royal family described the marriage to Prince Charles: “Well, it was a bit crowded because there were three of us in this marriage.”

Last year, the Dyson Report concluded that the interview was protected by “deception” and was a “serious violation” of the broadcaster’s guidelines.

Now the broadcaster has revealed that it is working with people affected by the deceptive tactics the BBC used to get an interview with Diana.

This includes paying “substantial damages” to Prince Harry and William’s then-royal nanny, and promising not to broadcast or license the interview to other broadcasters…

TL:DR: The BBC is about to change the 1995 interview with Princess Diana.

And last but not least, a speech and some naked protests.

The news can be a bit dark so I’d like to send a light note here so here’s something to make you all smile.

Originally from Tatworth, Jill White finally won the battle to cut down the hedges passed by the local council by posing nude.

After a naked protest, the woman won a two-year battle to collect leaves from the side of a crowded road. Originally from Tatworth, Somerset, Jill White campaigned for a county council to trim a hedge alongside the A358 kerbside near her home (pictured here). She said it got too big and her daughter had a hard time using the wheelchair sidewalk. Tatworth, Somerset. See SWNS Story SWBRhedge. Jill has been trying to get Somerset County Council to deal with the leaves alongside the busy A358 for two years.

Her daughter in a wheelchair had trouble walking on the sidewalk, so she wanted to cut down the plants.

Tired of the repetitive demands of cutting down bushes, Jill decided to take drastic measures.

He stood on the A358 holding a sign and declared: “I cut the bushes. Now the road guy will fix you.”

And it worked! After the protest, county councilors confirmed that hedge cutting and sidewalk cleaning work would begin.

TL:DR: Who says live action doesn’t work, not Tatworth Jill?!!
