The Queen sent congratulations to the victorious England women’s football team after making history tonight.

He said that they should be proud not only of winning the Euro 2022 Championship, but also of the impact they have had on the sport itself. The tournament put the spotlight on matchless women’s matches.

In a statement released by Buckingham Palace, Queen Elizabeth II said:

“This is an important achievement for the entire team, including the support staff.

“The championship and your performance in it is, of course, praise for winning.

But his success goes far beyond the trophies he naturally won.

“You all set an example that will inspire girls and women today and for generations to come.”

“I hope he’s as proud of the impact he’s had on his sport as he was with today’s results.”

The future king also joined in the celebration, shaking hands with each member of the team after Prince William, second in line to the throne, won the trophy.

Earlier today, Prince William shared a “hit” video he took with his 7-year-old daughter, Princess Charlotte.

In a recorded message, the Duke of Cambridge said:

“You are doing incredibly well in competition and we always support you.”

Charlotte, painted with her father in the garden, added:

After smiling at the camera, he waved and said, “Goodbye.”

England won the European Women’s Football Championship tonight in front of 87,000 spectators at Wembley Stadium.

The team defeated Germany 2–1 after extra time to win the first major tournament title by an English team since 1966.
