They identify a teenager who died in a tragic accident after allegedly running away to have fun with friends.
Mackenzie Croxford Cook, 14, was found dead Wednesday morning at the Penster Park fairgrounds in Dover, Kent.
The attraction was not yet open to the public. Locals said Mackenzie and a group of six friends climbed over the park fence the night before.
Mackenzie is believed to have surpassed her “body count” as her friends watched.
Mackenzie was reportedly asked to climb down, but Mackenzie continued to climb to the top and “lost his balance” and fell.
Paramedics were called to the park, but Mackenzie was pronounced dead at the scene.
Since then, friends, family and other loved ones have left tributes including balloons, flowers, photographs and letters at the marquee near the fairgrounds.
One tribute said the boy was “always there to make people smile.”
He added:
Local Katherine Dennison, 75, reportedly told MailOnline: I’m so sorry to your mum, dad and their friends who saw this.
Police had previously said the death was not being treated as suspicious.
Forest Amusements, which runs the fair, decided to close it on Wednesday “out of respect for the family.”
The company said yesterday:
Kent Police will ensure the death is not treated as suspicious and a post-mortem report will be prepared.
“Health and safety personnel were at the scene with the ambulance crew.
