State Department threatens Turkey with sanctions over purchase of second S-400 array

by

“All countries should avoid doing business with the Russian defense sector,” the US State Department spokesman said.

In reports of buying a second one of S-400 array from Turkey Washington responded through the State Department, warning Ankara of sanctions in case of arms supplies from Russia

“What we have consistently said, in any case, is that Russia’s brutal and unjustified war against Ukraine makes it vital, now more than ever, in some ways, that all countries should avoid doing business with Russian defense sector. So risk being penalized“, the representative of the US Department of State explained on the issue, Ned Price.

As SKAI correspondent Manolis Kostidis reports from Istanbul, Turkey was somehow quick to deny the news of a new contract with Russia, following the tremors caused by this report in the Turkish economy. However, he said that negotiations are continuing, based on the first contract signed which actually provides for the supply of a second array.
