After the United Kingdom and Boris Johnson, another type of “party gate” broke out in Finland with Sana Marin.
Videos of the 36-year-old prime minister at a party with other Finnish celebrities are causing reactions in the country. Videos were leaked on social media, showing Marin and other attendees dancing and singing. Part of the country’s public opinion insists that Sana Marin’s behavior is inconsistent with her office, but many citizens defend her, speaking of prudery.
Finland’s prime minister defended herself live at the start of the summer meeting of the Social Democratic Party’s parliamentary group.
According to Marin, the videos are private and were filmed at a private residence a few weeks ago. He clarified that he was aware that he was being videotaped, but believed that the videos would remain private.

“I’m upset that these videos have been made public. They were about me having a night out with friends. I’m partying – even going crazy – dancing and singing,” Marin explained.
After the party the night continued at two more bars in Helsinki, Marin told the media, but declined to comment on who may have leaked the videos.
The Prime Minister acknowledged that she had consumed alcoholic beverages, but no drugs.
“Personally, I haven’t taken drugs, nor consumed anything other than alcohol. I’ve danced, sung and partied – perfectly legal things. And I’ve never been in a situation where I’ve seen or met other [να χρησιμοποιούν ναρκωτικά]said Marin.
“I want to show that uthere are ordinary people with ordinary lives in these positions. I have a family life, I have a work life and I have free time to spend with my friends. Basically like a lot of people my age,” the Finnish Prime Minister explained.
