Last week residents of Timonovo and Soloti, 15 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, were evacuated after a nearby ammunition depot went up in flames.
Ammunition stored at a site in southern Russia, near the border with Ukraine, caught fire today and a local official blamed high temperatures in the region.
It is the second such incident that has occurred within a week.
Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of Belgorod, said the village of Timonovo was evacuated when the munitions began to explode. No one was injured.

In previous months, the governor blamed Ukrainian forces for the explosions in the region of Belgorod, which is 650 kilometers south of Moscow.
Kyiv generally avoids taking responsibility for explosions on Russian soil and sometimes comments that they are due to negligence. “In a few months we will find out if Russian munitions can explode due to the cold,” quipped the Ministry of Defense in a post on Twitter today. “The five main causes of sudden eruptions in Russia are: winter, spring, summer, autumn and smoking,” he added.
