Alexander Dugin was seen among hundreds of mourners at his daughter’s funeral in Russia.
The country has promised “no mercy” to the killer of Daria Dugina, who was killed when a car bomb exploded outside Moscow on Saturday.
Dubbed “Putin’s Rasputin” and “Putin’s brain”, Dugin is believed to have switched cars at the last minute and may have been attacked.
Attendees paid tribute to the 29-year-old media personality with his black-and-white portrait over an open coffin in the hall of Moscow’s Ostankino Television Center.
Mr. Dugin, an ultra-nationalist intellectual, was dressed in black with his wife by the coffin of their daughter.
His son, a well-known journalist, was killed on a highway near Moscow. Dugin was photographed holding his head on stage.
At the ceremony, he said: “He died for those on the front lines, for Russia. Last time here.”
“As a child, among his first words was Russia, our nation, our people, our empire.
Moscow said Ukrainian intelligence services were behind the attack, a claim Kyiv was quick to deny.
The powerful Russian security agency FSB said yesterday that the mystery was solved just two days after the incident, claiming that a Ukrainian woman was behind the attack.
The assailant rented an apartment in the same building as Dugina and followed her in a car.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Tuesday that those responsible “showed no mercy.”
“I think it is a barbaric crime that cannot be forgiven,” he said.
The US State Department said yesterday that it condemned the attacks on civilians, but stressed that Ukraine denies involvement.
“There is no doubt that the Russians will look into this, and there is no doubt that Russia will come to some conclusion,” spokesman Ned Price said.
The Russian Foreign Ministry argued that Washington’s response “does not trust the international activities of the United States.”
Dugin, 60, backed Russia’s much-criticized annexation of Crimea in 2014 and called for a broader attack on Ukraine. After that, he was put on the Western sanctions list and his daughter also appeared.

Although Putin has never publicly endorsed her, the Kremlin issued a message of condolences from the president on Monday, condemning the “shameful crime” that led to Dugina’s death.
The Russian president posthumously awarded the victim the “Medal of Courage” and displayed the medal next to his coffin.
