The 84-year-old actress, who starred in the final season of the Netflix sitcom ‘Grace and Frankie’ this year, revealed she was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL) via an Instagram post.
“It’s a very treatable cancer. 80% of people survive, so I feel very lucky,” Jane Fonda wrote. She added that she also feels lucky because she has “access to the best doctors and the best treatments.” “I realize, although it is painful, that I am privileged,” noted the famous actress.
Fonda has had a career in film and television spanning more than six decades, winning Academy Awards for her performances in The Disappearance (1971) and The Return (1978). Her latest film “Moving On” is set to premiere this month at the Toronto Film Festival.
“I started chemo for six months and I’m responding pretty well,” Fonda said. “Trust me, I’m not going to let any of this get in the way of my climate activism,” said the actress, who has lobbied to tackle climate change.
