Ukraine admitted to attacks on Russian bases in Crimea

Its senior military commander Ukrainian took responsibility today for a series of strikes on the military air bases that the Russia in the annexed Crimean peninsula, including the airbase in the city of Saki that was completely destroyed last month.

Ukraine has so far hinted at its involvement.

In an article published in the state news agency Ukrinform, Mr Valery Zaluzny, the chief of staff of the Ukrainian army, said the strikes were caused by missiles or rockets, without elaborating. Ten military aircraft were destroyed by these strikes.

In his op-ed, co-authored by MP Mykhailo Zambrodskyi, Zaluzny says Russia’s threat to use tactical nuclear weapons “cannot be ignored” and such a strike could trigger a limited nuclear war.

“Here there is an immediate threat of use, under certain conditions, of tactical nuclear weapons by the Russian Armed Forces” Zalouzny writes in his article.

“It is also impossible to completely rule out the possibility of the world’s leading countries being directly involved in a “limited nuclear conflict, in which the prospect of a Third World War it is already immediately visible,” said Zaluzny.
