There has been concern in recent hours about the health of 96-year-old Queen Elizabeth, who, according to a palace announcement, is under medical observation at Balmoral, as her doctors became concerned about her health. Crown Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, and Elizabeth’s grandson Prince William rushed to Balmoral. Princess Anne is already at her mother’s side, while Prince Andrew is on his way to Balmoral Castle. According to the BBC, the Queen’s grandson will also go to Balmoral, Harry with his wife, Meghan Markle.

“Following further assessment this morning, the Queen’s doctors are concerned about Her Majesty’s health and have recommended that she remain under medical observation. The Queen continues to feel comfortable at Balmoral,” Buckingham said in a brief statement.

Members of her immediate family have been informed, the statement said, downplaying rumors that the Queen had fallen.

For her part, Prime Minister Liz Truss said the nation’s thoughts are with Elizabeth.

The longest-lived monarch in the world

The 96-year-old Queen is the longest-reigning monarch in UK history and the longest-reigning queen in world history.

Elizabeth has worn the crown for 70 consecutive years as she ascended the throne in 1952, aged 25.
