Another 35,000 travel passes will be given to young men and women to explore Europe and its rich culture by train.

The next call for proposals DiscoverEU will be published on Tuesday, October 11, at 1:00 p.m. Greek time, and will be open until Tuesday, October 25, at 1:00 p.m. Greece time.

The invitation is addressed to young men and women from Erasmus+ program countries (including Iceland, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia and Turkey). To win a travel pass, young people must apply to European Youth Portal and answer a five-question quiz, plus one additional question.

The Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Ms Marija Gabriel, said: “For the second time this year, DiscoverEU will offer a valuable experience to 35,000 young people, enabling them to travel across the European continent, to discover new cultures, create new friendships. Promoting cultural exchanges through sustainable travel is more relevant today than ever. I wish the best of luck to all who apply.”

Applicants who successfully complete the multiple choice quiz and were born between 1 January 2004 and 31 December 2004 will be able to travel to Europe for up to 30 days during the period from 1 March 2023 to 29 February 2024. Those who complete the 18-year-olds in the first half of next year will be able to apply in March 2023. Thanks to the increased budget of the program due to the European Year of Youth, a total of 70,000 travel passes will be made available in 2022, within the framework of this year’s two rounds. In addition, those who receive a travel pass will continue to benefit from a discount card, offering them more than 40,000 discounts on public transport, cultural events, accommodation, food, sports and other services available in eligible countries. They will also be able to participate in DiscoverEU meetings, an initiative launched in summer 2022 consisting of exciting cultural programs of one to three days in all Erasmus+ countries.
