The United States has imposed new sanctions on Russian entities and individuals that facilitated Russia’s war in Ukraine, the Treasury Department announced today.

The new sanctions target 22 individuals and two entities that advanced Moscow’s goals in Ukraine both before and after Russia’s February invasion of the neighboring country, the ministry said in a statement.

The new sanctions were imposed in coordination with the Commerce Ministry, which has imposed new controls on Russian exports, and the Foreign Ministry, which is targeting Russia’s defense and high-tech industries, the statement said.

“As Ukraine defends its freedom, today we are taking steps to further degrade Russia’s ability to rebuild its military, hold perpetrators of violence accountable, and further isolate Putin economically,” Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said.
