Faced pale and grave, Queen Elizabeth II’s closest relatives followed her coffin into Westminster Abbey

Queen Elizabeth II’s closest relatives – faces pale and grave – followed her coffin to Westminster Abbey where her funeral took place in a carefully choreographed procession.

Elizabeth’s son, King Charles III, and his three younger siblings—Anne, Andrew, and Edward—stood first in line behind the pall on which the late queen’s coffin was placed, dragged by 142 sailors, to be carried from Westminster Hall in the Abbey.

Behind them were Charles’ children, Princes William and Harry, and other senior members of the royal family.

THE Charles and William they arrived in the same car at Westminster Hall, where they were received with cheers and applause from the assembled crowd that had rushed to witness the ceremony.

From the moment the Queen’s coffin, which was carried by an eight-member pallbearer, appeared, everyone fell silent and the members of the royal family followed the coffin to the sound of bagpipes and mourning bells.

Charles, Anne, Edward and William, in military uniform, saluted as the coffin was lifted from the bier in front of the Abbey.

Andrew and Harry, as non-working royals, wore a suit and did not salute, despite both having served in war zones in the past, in the Falkland Islands and Afghanistan respectively.

Charles looked broken and exhausted as the coffin was carried into the Abbey for the funeral service to begin.

Camila was waiting insidethe royal wife, as well as William’s wife, Kate, along with two of their children, George, 9, and Charlotte, 7, as well as Harry’s wife, Meghan.

Members of the royal family followed the casket to the podium where it was placed.

William and Kate had their children between them as they walked and held them by the shoulder.
