Angry citizens continue to protest ‘morality policing’ over Mahsha Amini’s death in custody in Iran

Men and women erupt in Iran over the death of the 22-year-old Mahsa Amini who was arrested by the “morality” police for not wearing her headscarf properly.

Hundreds of angry citizens have taken to the streets to protest, with many women burning their headscarves.

So far at least three people have died in the protests, but protesters continue to chant slogans against the country’s leadership.

These are the most intense protests that have taken place in years after this very serious incident.

His concern about the action of the police in Iran was also expressed by UN:

“The acting UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Nada al-Nassif, today expressed concern over the death in custody of Mahsha Amini – who was arrested by Iran’s ‘morality police’, which enforces strict rules on the use of the hijab – and the violent response of the security forces to the protests that followed,” the UN statement underlined.

Activists report that Amini received one strong blow to the head three days after her arrest, which the authorities categorically deny, calling it an “unfortunate incident”.

The wave of protests also spread to social media with many women uploading videos of themselves cutting their hair.
