Thriller with Nord Stream: European governments “see” sabotage and “photograph” Russia – Jump in the price of natural gas

Kyiv speaks of a “terrorist attack by Russia” – The representative of the Kremlin did not rule out sabotage – Attacks can only be carried out by special forces divers or a submarine – Investigation at the scene

In a thriller with many extensions, the case of leaks in the pipeline develops Nord Stream in the Baltic Sea. Many European governments are converging on the conclusion that this is an attack, implying that this attack comes from Russia, with the aim, of course – what else? – to limit the supply of natural gas to Europe. Already the price of natural gas jumped up to 20%, reaching 212 euros within a few hours, at the same time that Kyiv directly accuses Moscow of a terrorist act and an attack on Europe.

As her report states DW, the Swedish Shipping Authority reported three leakage points, one in the Swedish maritime economic zone and the other two in the Danish economic zone. “The leaks are very close, southeast of the Danish island of Bornholm,” a spokesperson told Reuters news agency.

The German press writes that the Berlin considers that these are targeted attacks against the two lawsuits. Spiegel even cites a man who has insider knowledge of the facts.

Well-informed sources tell DW that “the possibility of a possible attack at the bottom of the sea is not something common. It is done only with special forces, with divers, or even a submarine.”

The operation of the Nord Stream 1 pipeline was completely stopped at the beginning of September, as Russia initially cited a technical failure of a pump at a Russian compressor station and then Western sanctions, while Nord Stream 2 was not given a last-minute permission to operate due to Russian sanctions .

What Poland and Denmark said

Poland said the leaks detected by Danish authorities were due to Russian provocation. “We are in a situation of high international pressure,” he said characteristically Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Marcin Przydacz in Warsaw. “Unfortunately, our eastern neighbor is constantly following a policy of provocations,” he added.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, which is in the Polish town of Goleniów, near Stettin, for the inauguration of the Baltic Pap gas pipeline, confirmed to reporters that the leak points are close. Asked if it was sabotage, he said: “We can’t rule anything out, but it’s still too early to draw any conclusions.”

Moscow, for its part, said it was “extremely concerned” about the leaks. “It is an unprecedented situation,” said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, who did not rule out sabotage. “No version can be ruled out.”
