US embassy in Moscow travel advisory to US citizens: ‘Do not travel, leave Russia immediately’

The risk that the dual citizenship of some citizens will not be recognized and they will be forced to serve in the Russian army, the American embassy in Russia expresses in a statement

To leave immediately Russia to avoid conscription declared by the Kremlin, the US embassy in Moscow is calling on American citizens.

A statement from the embassy expresses the risk that the dual citizenship of some citizens will not be recognized and they will be forced to serve in the Russian army.

“Russia may refuse to recognize dual nationals’ US citizenship, deny them access to US consular assistance, block their departure from Russia and recruit them,” the embassy warned in a statement.

The embassy also says exiting Russia is becoming increasingly difficult with flights full and Putin’s troops blocking borders.

“Commercial flight options are currently extremely limited and often unavailable on short notice,” the statement said.

That is why he calls on Americans to leave the country by crossing the border by car or bus and to act immediately: “The land routes by car and bus are still open. If you wish to leave Russia, you should take independent action as soon as possible.”
