With the new king’s “approval” this portrait will appear on every new coin.

During her 70-year reign, Elizabeth became the most famous woman in the world. Her portrait is still everywhere on stamps, coins and bills and her initials adorn post boxes, uniforms and government signs across the country.

This must change as soon as possible and their position to take the portaita and initials of the new King Charles III.

Already, Britain’s Royal Mint – which has been creating coins for the United Kingdom for more than 1,100 years – today unveiled its new collection of coins featuring the image of King Charles. With the “approval” of Charles this portrait will appear on every new coin.

In the portrait, Charles does not wear a crown – and has the inscription “King Charles III, by the Grace of God, Defender of the Faith”, written in Latin.

In keeping with tradition, his face will be turned to the left, as protocol dictates regarding kings. The queen was looking in the opposite direction.

“Today we are honored to unveil the first official portrait of His Majesty King Charles III to appear for the first time in a collection of commemorative coins celebrating the life and legacy of Queen Elizabeth II,” the Royal Mint said.

A series of commemorative coins will also be launched on October 3 “to mark this poignant moment in British history”.
