The Russian president reiterated the respect he feels for the Ukrainian people, Vladimir Putin pointing out that in the four Russian-controlled areas of Ukraine that he declared on Friday as Russian territory, he expects the situation to “stabilize.”
“We proceed from the fact that the situation will stabilize, we will be able to calmly develop these territories,” Putin said in televised remarks during a meeting he had today with teachers.
Referring to the Ukrainian people, he characteristically stated that “always, and even today, despite the current tragedy, we have great respect for the Ukrainian people, culture, language, literature and so on,” he said.
It is noted that the Ukrainian presidential adviser, Mihailo Podoliak he said earlier that any “Russian objects” in occupied Ukrainian territory are legitimate military targets and Ukraine’s counterattack is part of a defensive war.
