A female pilot has created the largest portrait of the late Queen Elizabeth II by flying over specific points and ‘drawing’ her outline on radar to raise money for a charity.

On the two-hour flight in a Piper PA-28 on Thursday, Amal Larhlid created the late queen’s signature profile, and what made it difficult for her was to form the elaborate crown in detail.

“Queen Elizabeth has been an inspiration to many generations, dedicating herself to the service of the people for 70 years. I will fly to make her portrait as a mark of respect. They will always be in our hearts, as will our loved ones who have left us too,” Amal said shortly before her venture.

Elizabeth II died on 8 September 2022, aged 96, at Balmoral Castle.
