The purpose of the visit was to promote in the United States of America the just demand for the return of the Parthenon Sculptures, an issue for which they also held a related press conference, as stated in a related announcement by Mrs. Augerinopoulou, which also quotes statements by Carolyn Maloney. “Western civilization owes a debt of gratitude to Greek civilization that we can never fully repay.
