Moscow’s first reaction to the sabotage with a trapped vehicle on the Kerch bridge
Moscow’s first official reaction to the sabotage of its bridge Kerch in Crimea, became known a while ago. The sabotage, with a car bomb, caused serious damage to the bridge connecting Crimea with Russia.
Referring indirectly to the “right hand” of President Zelensky, Mykhailo Podoliak, but also to other Ukrainian officials, who welcome the sabotage, the representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova he mentioned that “the response of the Kiev regime to the destruction of political infrastructure is proof of its terrorist nature.”
It is possible that Mr. Podoliak appeared to admit that behind the explosion on the strategically important bridge at Kerch Strait lies Kyiv, however, many Ukrainian government officials had already spoken of destroying the bridge in recent months, including Podoliak himself.
The bridge is one of Moscow’s largest infrastructure investments on the occupied peninsula. The bridge was personally inaugurated by the president Vladimir Putin in 2018, four years after Russia annexed the Ukrainian peninsula. The project cost billions.
