“There is still a lot of time before the G20,” said Yuri Ushakov

The Kremlin said today that the future will tell whether President Vladimir Putin will attend the G20 summit in November in Bali, Indonesia.

“A large number of international forums are planned for November,” he told reporters Yuri UshakovPutin’s foreign policy adviser.

“If you are asking about the G20, then there is still a lot of time before the G20, as well as before other forums – we will wait and see,” Ushakov stressed.

The president of the USA Joe Bidenasked if he would meet Putin at the G20, replied that he sees no good reason to sit down to talk with the Russian president.

“It will depend specifically on what he wants to talk about,” Biden told CNN, adding that if Putin wants to discuss jailed American basketball player Brittney Greiner, then the US president would be open to discussions.

“I see no reason to meet with him now,” Biden said.

Asked about the US president’s statements, Ushakov said: “I can say that Russia, we, never give up negotiations and any useful international contacts.”

“We never ignore when they reach out for a handshake. But if we feel, we understand that a partner doesn’t want us to meet for one reason or another, then we don’t force it.”
