“This is an unconstructive act of misjudgment based on widespread misinformation. Riots and vandalism are not tolerated anywhere. Iran is no exception,” Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said in a tweet.

Iran’s foreign minister described as “useless” the sanctions imposed by the European Union against Tehran today, referring to “non-constructive action” which he attributed to “wrong judgment”.

“The EU today approved further futile sanctions against Iran. This is an unconstructive act of misjudgment based on widespread misinformation. Riots and vandalism are not tolerated anywhere. Iran is no exception,” Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said in a tweet.

The EU’s Foreign Affairs Council today included 11 individuals and four entities from Iran on its sanctions list related to human rights violations. EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said the decision to take action against those responsible for the death of Mahsha Amini and the violent crackdown on peaceful protests in Iran was unanimous.
