Russia’s use of ‘dirty bomb’ or nukes would have ‘consequences’, Pentagon says

The American Pentagon clarified that the Russian side has been informed about them at various “levels”.

The US Pentagon reiterated on Tuesday that if Russia uses nuclear weapons or a radioactive bomb there will be “consequences”.

“There would be consequences for Russia if they used either nuclear weapons or a dirty bomb,” US Defense Department spokesman Air Force Brigadier General Pat Ryder told a news conference.

Brigadier General Ryder said he did not intend to give details about these “consequences”, however he clarified that the Russian side has been informed about them at various “levels”.

The Pentagon spokesman also reiterated that Russia’s allegation that Ukraine is preparing to use a “dirty bomb” and blame it on the opposing side is false.

According to Brigadier General Ryder, the US is “constantly monitoring” the situation.

“I’m not going to go into specifics about how, when and where. But it goes without saying that it’s something we take very seriously and continue to monitor 24/7.”
