Many believed she underwent surgery to achieve her demonic appearance, but she revealed her true self on Iranian TV channel Rokna.
Tabar, 21, whose real name is Fatemeh Khishvand, from Tehran, was initially jailed for obscenity and insulting the hijab, according to the Iranian News Agency for Human Rights.
He was arrested in October 2019 for corruption and blasphemy and sentenced to ten years in prison.
But the social media star was recently released from prison. Announcing Tabar’s prison sentence in 2020, her supporters wrote online: “Sahar Tabar is only 19 years old. Her joke landed her in jail. Her mother cries every day for the release of her innocent daughter. Dear Angelina Jolie, we need your voice here. Help us”.
This year, Iran has been rocked by widespread protests and strikes, which have raged across the country for a sixth consecutive week following the death of Mahsa Amini, who was killed in custody after being accused of violating Iran’s strict dress code for women.
Her death fueled the largest anti-government protests in the Islamic Republic in years.
The social media star rose to fame in 2017 after reportedly undergoing 50 surgeries to look like Oscar-winning actress Angelina Jolie.
She later confirmed that her appearance was achieved mainly through make-up and editing in a televised pre-trial interview in which she appeared as a “zombie”, her face blurred.
Tabar also said that it was her childhood dream to become famous and that she really wanted to get her own Instagram following, despite her mother’s objections.
She later admitted that she had undergone some surgeries, including a nose job, lip fillers and liposuction, but insisted that most of her unusual appearance was due to make-up and photoshop.
