The prime minister of Finland pointed out that “all eyes are on Hungary and Turkey”
A call to Turkey, but also to Hungary, to approve as soon as possible the applications of Finland and Sweden for NATO membership addressed Sana Marin.
The prime minister of Finland pointed out that “all eyes are on Hungary and Turkey. We are waiting for these countries to ratify our applications. I think it would be important for this to happen as soon as possible,” said Sanna Marin during a joint press conference with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristerson.
Finland and Sweden applied to join the Atlantic alliance in May because of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, but their entry ran into objections from Turkey, which has accused the two countries of harboring what the Turkish regime calls terrorist organizations.
Turkey and Hungary they are the only NATO countries that have not ratified the membership applications of Sweden and Finland.
Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristerson said for his part that Stockholm and Ankara have agreed on his visit to the Turkish capital and that the date remains to be determined. The Swedish Prime Minister stated that it is normal for Sweden and Finland to join the Atlantic Alliance at the same time.
