UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres today “warmly” welcomed Russia’s return to the agreement allowing the export of Ukrainian grain, his spokesman said in a statement.

The secretary-general “continues his efforts together with all actors to renew and fully implement the (Black Sea) Initiative, which expires on November 19, and is also committed to removing the remaining obstacles to Russian food and fertilizer exports” , added Stefan Duzaric.

earlier today, Moscow announced that it was returning to the Black Sea grain agreementafter receiving written guarantees from Ukraine that it will not use the grain corridor for military operations against the Russian Federation.

“Thanks to the participation of the UN Security Council, as well as the help of Turkey, it was possible to obtain the necessary written guarantees from Ukraine for the non-use of the humanitarian corridor and Ukrainian ports, which are determined in the interest of the export of agricultural products.”
