Seoul radar detected some 180 North Korean military aircraft near the border.

South Korea’s National Defense General Staff announced that its fighter jets had been scrambled after radar detected some 180 North Korean military aircraft near the border.

Earlier, North Korea carried out new strikes towards the “security zone”, in the area of the disputed maritime border between the two states, as the tension on the Korean peninsula has skyrocketed in the past 24 hours.

At the same time, Seoul and Washington continue their joint air drills, the largest in their history, until tomorrow Saturday, following the test – which was unsuccessful, according to South Korea – of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) by Pyongyang.

Meanwhile, South Korea, Japan and the US are organizing a summit in mid-November over tensions with North Korea.

The talks by Presidents Joe Biden, Yun Seok-geil and Prime Minister Fumio Kishida are a way to show their solidarity and unity in the face of escalating tensions in the region due to North Korea’s series of ballistic missile tests, including intercontinental ballistic missiles.
