Andy Taylor Couldn’t Attend Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony – The Touching Message About His Absence
THE Andy Taylorthe guitarist of the legendary British band Duran Duranrevealed that he is suffering from stage four prostate cancer, during her of the band’s inclusion in the “Rock & Roll Hall of Fame” yesterday.
Duran Duran’s induction into the Hall of Fame was intended to act as a reunion of the band, which currently consists of Nick Rhodes, John Taylor, Roger Taylor and Simon Le Bon.
The announcement was made by Simon Le Bonmember and frontman of the band, as Taylor was unable to attend the ceremony.
Le Bon read a letter from Taylor in which he revealed that he has been battling the disease for years.
“About four years ago I was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer,” Taylor wrote. “Many families have experienced the slow burn of this disease and, of course, we are no different.”
“So I’m speaking from a family man’s perspective, but with deep humility for the band, the biggest fans a group could have, and this great honor.”
The British rocker acknowledged that while his condition is “not immediately life-threatening, there is no cure.”

“Despite the excellent efforts of my team, I had to be honest that both physically and mentally, I would be pushing my limits.” However, none of this need or should detract from what this band has achieved and sustained (with or without me) for 44 years,” he said in his letter.
“We had a privileged life, we were a bit naughty but very nice, scantily clad but very well dressed, a little full of ourselves because we had a lot to give, but as I’ve said many times, when you feel that collective, instinctive, kindred spirit of creativity mixed with ambition, armed with a crowd of fans, what could it go wrong?’
He went on to say he was “very disappointed” he couldn’t be there with fellow band members Nick Rhodes, John Taylor, Roger Taylor and Le Bon and said he had even bought a new guitar to play for the occasion.
“I am very proud of these four brothers. I am amazed at their endurance and am very happy to accept this award,” he said in his letter.
“I often doubted that this day would come. But I am sure I am very glad to be near you to see her on this day,” Taylor concluded in his letter.
The ceremony was expected to be a reunion for Duran Duran, of which Taylor was a member from 1980 to 1986 and again from 2001 to 2006. He played guitar on the band’s first three albums, which included the hit songs ‘Rio ” and “Hungry Like the Wolf”.
