“This year marks 39 years since the day Turkey and the Turkish Cypriot leadership proceeded to declare the pseudo-state, in violation of international law and all legality.

The President of the Republic and the Government strongly condemn the separatist movement, which is also condemned by the entire international community through a series of resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.

However, Turkey and its subordinate leadership of the Turkish Cypriot community in occupied Cyprus, not only continue, but intensify their provocations and illegal actions both at sea and on the territory of the Republic of Cyprus, culminating in actions in violation of all international legality of the occupation regime in Famagusta.

The President of the Republic reiterates the political will and determination of our side to continue efforts to achieve a functional solution, based on the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and European principles and values, with the aim of peaceful coexistence and co-creation of Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots, and which will secure the human rights of all Cypriot citizens, away from dependencies on third parties and anachronistic guarantees”.
