Reaction of the current president to the former president’s candidacy announcement
US President Joe Biden accused his Republican predecessor Donald Trump of “weakening America”while the real estate tycoon confirmed, in front of excited supporters at his luxury residence in Mar-a-Lago, Florida, that he will be a candidate for the third time in the presidential elections in 2024.
In a post on his personal Twitter account, Mr. Biden accompanied this accusation with a short video in which he accuses, among other things, Mr. Trump of “launching an attack on health care” and “women’s rights”, promoted tax exemptions “for the rich”, while he sneered at “extremists”.

Almost simultaneously, the White House on its own Twitter account posted a thread referring to Mr. Biden’s “accomplishments.”
