“Russian missiles hit Ukrainian gas production facilities,” Ukrainian PM says

There are no reports of casualties from the new wave of airstrikes

Russia hammered gas production facilities and a large missile factory carrying out new missile strikes on critical infrastructure today in UkraineUkrainian officials announced.

Explosions were heard in various parts of the country, including Odesa in southern Ukraine, the capital Kiev and the central city of Dnipro, while civilians were told to take shelter as warnings of airstrikes were issued.

The goals included the big one Pivdenmas missile factory in Diprohe stated Prime Minister Dennis Schmihal.

“Missiles are currently flying over Kyiv. Now they are shelling our gas production facilities, they are shelling our operations in Ddipro and the Pivdenmas missile plant,” Smyhal said, according to the Interfax Ukraine news agency.

It was not immediately clear which gas production facilities he was referring to.

Local officials said that two people were killed from a rocket attack during the night in the southeastern region of Zaporizhia, three were injured in an attack on the northeastern city of Kharkiv and three were injured in Odessa.

In recent weeks, Russia has stepped up attacks on Ukrainian energy facilities and has launched some of its heaviest missile strikes since invading Ukraine on February 24.

Ukraine has said its air defenses have shot down many of the missiles and from the drones that have been launched in recent weeks. Kyiv municipal officials said two cruise missiles and four Iranian-made Sahed drones were destroyed near the city today.

So far there are no reports of casualties from the new wave of airstrikes.

“This morning Russia launched another barrage of missiles against critical infrastructure in Ukraine,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleg Nikolenko said.

“(Russian President Vladimir) Putin wants to deprive millions of people of electricity and heating amid sub-zero temperatures. Send Ukraine more anti-aircraft and missile defense systems to prevent this tragedy. Delays cost lives.”
