Leno’s head is barely visible in the video, but it can be seen to be completely wrapped in gauze.
The popular American presenter Jay Leno is receiving various forms of treatment for third-degree burns after the accident he suffered when a fire broke out while working on a car in his garage in Burbank.
In an “Inside Edition” video, the self-titled “Jay Leno’s Garage” host, being a car enthusiast, is in a hyperbaric chamber where his left arm appears to be bandaged up to his elbow, while on his right hand only the palm is bandaged.
Leno’s head is barely visible in the video, but it can be seen to be completely wrapped in gauze.
The 72-year-old underwent surgery and a skin graft, and will undergo another operation the upcoming week at the Grossman Burn Center north of Los Angeles, where he is being treated.
Dr. Peter Grossman explained on the show that the hyperbaric chamber helps to “reduce swelling” and “increase well-oxygenated blood flow,” as well as reduce bacteria.
Grossman added that Leno is doing “good” after the surgery.
“His injuries are serious, his condition is good,” the doctor clarified, adding that Leno “did well” during the first operation. “He’s in a good mood today,” Grossman said.
