A musical inspired by the life of Silvio Berlusconi is set to hit the London stage this spring.

The news is true and – according to the Guardian – the show “Berlusconi”, directed by James Grieve, will be staged at the Southwark Playhouse in South London.

From what little has been revealed, the musical will also include a song called My Weekend With Vladimir.

The case

The script of the musical has been written by two former stars of the British children’s series “Grange Hill}, Ricky Simmonds (Ricky Simmonds) and Simon Vaughan (Simon Vaughan).

The show will focus on Berlusconi’s gift of wielding power “with his signature smile and wink,” according to producer Francesca Moody.

In the musical, Italy’s three-time former prime minister recalls his rise and fall on the eve of the verdict in his tax fraud trial, and decides to write an autobiographical opera.

Then three women in his life recount the “almost true story”: Ilda Boccassini (judge), Berlusconi’s second wife, actress Veronica Lario who left him in 2009 after almost 20 years of marriage, and a journalist.

“These women are telling their story,” says Francesca Moody.

The rest on… the stage.
