Thanksgiving Day was celebrated yesterday in the USA, with roast turkeys, family tables and thanksgiving of Americans for all that they have and the established, spectacular parade of Macy’s, in the center of Manhattan.
Thanksgiving is a centuries-old traditional celebration that began with the “pilgrims”, the first European settlers on the American continent and is also called “Turkey Day” because it marks the beginning of the festive season that lasts until the New Year.
In fact, every year the current American president gives “grace” to two turkeys, to save them from the celebratory dinner.
On the occasion of today’s holiday, the former president of the USA, Barack Obama, remembered all the Thanksgivings in the White House and uploaded a video on social media with the caption: “One of my favorite traditions of the White House was telling jokes about the Day of Thanksgiving – which I at least thought were funny. Here’s a look back at some of my favorites.”
