Employees in facilities of Amazon worldwide, incl of the USA, Germany and France, are expected to strike today’s Black Fridayone of the busiest days of the year, demanding better wages.

A global call for strike action formulated by the Make Amazon Pay initiative (Make Amazon Pay), which has announced planned strikes in more than 30 countries around the world.

The German trade union Verdi has announced that strikes are planned at 10 Amazon fulfillment centers in Germany.

The labor union asks the company to recognize collective bargaining agreements for the retail and mail order sector and called for further collective agreement for good and healthy working conditions.

An Amazon representative in Germany did not immediately comment on the requests when contacted by Reuters.

“This is the first time Amazon has had an international day of strike”says Monica Di Silvestre, the representative of Amazon workers at the Verdi union.

“This is very important because a large global company like Amazon cannot be dealt with only at a local, regional or national level,” he added.
