The four-month-old infant suffers, according to his mother, from pulmonary valve stenosis
Authorities in New Zealand have asked a court to grant them partial custody of an infant whose parents refuse to undergo life-saving surgery because they fear he may receive a blood transfusion from a person who has been vaccinated against covid-19.
The health authorities said they made the relevant request today as an emergency in the High Court in Auckland.
The four-month-old infant, whose identity has not been released following a court order, is suffering, according to his mother, from pulmonary valve stenosis, a heart problem that requires surgery.
But the infant has been delayed in undergoing this operation as his parents require the blood to be transfused to him to come from people who have not received the covid mRNA vaccine.
Their request was refused as hospitals in New Zealand do not separate the blood of vaccinated from unvaccinated blood.
The authorities asked the court to grant them partial custody of the infant. If the court grants their request, the parents will still be the guardians of the infant, but they will not be able to make medical decisions for it.
Health authorities explained that they took legal action “with the best interests of the infant in mind” and after “long discussions” with the family.
About 150 anti-vaccination protesters gathered outside the Oakland courthouse today to show their support for the parents.
