Washington: “We do not encourage” Kyiv to launch strikes on Russia

“Everything we do, everything the world does in support of Ukraine, is done in support of Ukrainian independence,” Ned Price said.

The United States clarified today Tuesday that they “do not encourage” Ukraine to launch strikes at Russia, after drone attacks on two Russian airbases believed to have come from Kyiv signaled an apparently new Ukrainian ability to penetrate hundreds of kilometers into Russian airspace.

“We are not enabling Ukraine to launch strikes across its borders, we are not encouraging Ukraine to launch strikes across its borders,” US State Department spokesman Ned Price told reporters.

“Everything we do, everything the world does to support Ukraine, is done in support of Ukraine’s independence,” the US official said.

Price added that the US supplies Ukraine with what it needs to use on its sovereign territory to defend itself.

Kyiv did not directly claim responsibility for the said blows, yet he did not conceal his satisfaction with them. Price said, however, that there is no confirmation that the attacks were carried out from Ukraine.
