The demonstration was organized by unions representing many public sector workers, demanding better wages and working conditions
Thousands of protesters took to the streets of Brussels today to protest rising living costs, causing problems for the public transport system and disrupting this week’s European Union summit.
Brussels police said 16,500 people took part in the demonstration, which was organized by unions representing many public sector workers demanding better wages and working conditions as inflation rises across Europe.
“Increase wages and pensions!” read the placard held by a protester.
The demonstration unfolded peacefully, but Brussels Airport announced that flights had to be canceled as a result of the demonstration, while local police said there were traffic problems.
