The protests they reportedly staged, which Reuters could not confirm, come amid a popular uprising in the country — the biggest challenge to the Islamic Republic since the 1979 revolution.
The nationwide protests were sparked by the death on September 16 of 22-year-old Iranian-Kurdish Mahsha Amini, who was detained by the morality police for wearing her hijab incorrectly.
Iran’s oil ministry was not immediately available for comment.

The activist news agency HRANA reported today that a group of refinery workers protested outside the Pars company in Asalugeh in the southern province of Bushehr.
According to the same source, in addition to increases in wages and pensions, the workers demanded the abolition of high income taxes, the improvement of health services and social welfare services.
A combination of mass protests and strikes by refinery workers and bazaar traders helped the theocratic regime prevail in the Iranian revolution four decades ago.
