Malaysian police have called in staff from the camp, which was operating without a permit, to help investigate the landslide that leveled the campsite, killing at least 24 people, as the search for the missing continues for a third day.

The victims, including seven children, died when a landslide early Friday crushed campers as they slept in their tents in Batang Kali, a popular hill area about 50 km north of the capital Kuala Lumpur.

Of the 94 people hit by the landslide, 61 are safe and nine are still missing, according to the fire and rescue service in Selaghor state.

Search teams now have more excavators and specially trained dogs at their disposal to locate campers who may remain trapped under mudslides and uprooted trees, with heavy rains raising fears of further landslides.

Selaghor police chief Sufyan Abdullah said police questioned the manager and two workers at the Father’s Organic Farm camp. Authorities have said the site could be used as an organic farm, but that the owners had not filed an application.
