Moscow raises the tone against the West and targets the US – Reactions to the sending of weapons systems to Ukraine
The representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued direct threats of a military conflict with the US on Monday Maria Zakharova.
Ms. Zakharova vehemently attacked the US, saying that “the dangerous and short-sighted policies of Washington – s.s. on the issue of Ukraine – bring Russia and the US one step closer to conflict.”
The representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded to the comment of the representative of the American Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ned Price, regarding her “accusation” of Russia for the deterioration of US-Russia relations. As Maria Zakharova pointed out, “the very effort of the United States to maintain American hegemony, by all means, ignoring the new geopolitical realities, as well as its arrogant reluctance to start a serious dialogue on security guarantees, led to the predictable result” .
“After the big fiasco in Afghanistan, America is increasingly drawn into a new conflict, not only supporting the neo-Nazi regime in Kyiv financially and with weapons, but also increasing its military presence on the ground,” added the Russian spokeswoman for Moscow.
“This is a dangerous and short-sighted policy that puts the USA and Russia on the brink of a direct conflict,” Zakharova pointed out. “For its part, Moscow is urging the Joe Biden administration to soberly assess the situation. We hope they will listen to us in Washington, although there is no reason for optimism so far.”
As Mrs. Zakharova mentioned, Russia is interested in the de-escalation of tension and agreement on the principles of peaceful coexistence on the basis of strict reciprocity. “We are not abandoning communication with the US at various levels, but for – at least – minimal progress, we need an incentive, which requires political will, an open mind and a readiness to negotiate honestly, without a double line. And this is exactly what Washington is completely missing at the moment,” the Russian diplomat added.
