America’s Archbishop: Think of all those whose lives have been destroyed by violence and war

“As we welcome the divine infant of Bethlehem, seeing in his humility and poverty the essence of God’s true power and true glory, let us remember all those who lack this blessing of peace in their daily lives. May the newborn Lord of glory grant this peace to the whole world and quickly bring justice, reconciliation and hope to the peoples of Ukraine and Russia”, points out, among other things, in his Christmas message the Archbishop of America Elpidophoros.

His message in detail is as follows:

“My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, now that you are all in your homes and preparing to celebrate Christmas with your families and friends, I would like to ask you to take a moment of your time and turn your thoughts to all those whose lives were destroyed. They were destroyed by violence and war. The Prophet Isaiah reminds us that “a child was born to us, a son was given to us, and his name is called ‘Prince of Peace’.” Today more than ever we need this ‘Lord of Peace’ in our world. Especially for our brothers and sisters from Ukraine who suffered and endured almost all of 2022 a brutal invasion from Russia. Tens of thousands of people died on both sides in a war that, like all wars, is unjustified. And unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be an end to this war.

May the newborn Lord of glory grant this peace to the whole world and speedily bring justice, reconciliation and hope to the peoples of Ukraine and Russia.
