Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic called the ban on the Patriarch’s entry into Kosovo a “shame”
The president of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic visited the Serbian Patriarch Porfirio with whom they discussed the situation in Kosovo. The reason for this visit was ban entry into Kosovo of the Serbian Patriarch.
It is noted that yesterday, Monday, the border authorities, at the “Merdare” crossing, did not allow the head of the Serbian Orthodox Church to enter Kosovo based on a relative ban issued by the government in Pristina.
Commenting on the event, Patriarch Porphyrios said: “I will simply say that the Patriarchate of Peki in Kosovo (it is the official seat of the Serbian Patriarchate) is for our people, for our Church what the Vatican is for Roman Catholic Church. So imagine what would happen if someone for no reason and with some kind of comical explanation, just because he wants to, banned the Pope from entering the Vatican.”
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic called the ban on the Patriarch’s entry into Kosovo a “shame” which burdens not only Pristina but also the international actor who did not react.
Regarding the tension prevailing in Kosovo, Patriarch Porphyrios appealed to everyone to show prudence in order to avoid armed conflict. “We must do everything to preserve peace at all costs, I personally asked the president, as well as the entire government to do everything to preserve peace, God grant that there will be no armed conflicts, because there will not be they bring no good to anyone,” said the Serbian Patriarch after his meeting with Aleksandar Vucic.
At the same time, the Serbian Patriarch called on Pristina and the world’s superpowers to help maintain peace, pointing out that “the protection of human life is the highest interest above all other interests”.
