After the attacks on the strategically important airport in the city of Engels –

The daily report by the British Ministry of Defense focuses on the impact of the transfer of Russia’s strategic bombers to the Russian Far East after the attacks on the strategically important airport in the city of Engels, where the bombers were stationed.

On December 27, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Alexei Danilov, announced that Russia has moved its Tu-95MS and Tu-22M3 strategic bombers to the Russian Far East.

On December 5th and 26th, Engels airfield, which housed the long-range strategic bombers, was hit. After the destruction of several aircraft, Russia likely decided to disperse the long-range aircraft and send them to airfields further away from Ukraine

The aircraft will still be able to launch cruise missiles from the air in Ukraine, as these weapons have a range of 5,000 kilometers in addition to the range of the bombers.

However, flying from the locations to which the aircraft have been transferred will burden the aircraft with an additional maintenance burden and further deplete the already limited flight hours available on these aging aircraft.
