Elections in Cyprus: Lead for Nikos Christodoulidis

Second is Averof Neofytou, according to a poll by the RIK

29.5% rate for Nikos Christodoulidis compared to 21.5% for Averof Neofytou and 20.5% for him Andreas Mavroyiannis gave the third RIK poll presented on Thursday evening.

The percentages secured by the remaining candidates are: Christos Christou 3.5%, Achilleas Dimitriadis 3%, George Kolokasidis 1.5%, Konstantinos Christofidis 1% and other candidates 1.5%.

As reported by RIK, in the scenarios for the second round of the elections, in the event of an election contest between Nikos Christodoulidis and Averof Neophytou, Mr. Christodoulidis secures 42.5% and Mr. Neophytou 28.5%.

In the scenario Nikos Christodoulidis vs. Andreas Mavroyiannis, Mr. Christodoulidis secures 45.5% and Mr. Mavroyiannis 27%.

In the scenario of Averof Neophytou vs. Andreas Mavroyiannis, Mr. Neofytou secures 34.5% and Mr. Mavroyiannis 33%.

The said poll also shows that Nikos Christodoulidis secures 50%, Averof Neophytou 27% and Andreas Mavroyiannis 9% in the victory show.

When asked about the direction of the country, 15% of citizens said that they think it is moving in the right direction, 49% in the wrong direction and 34% neither right nor wrong. Regarding the citizens’ interest in the presidential elections, two out of three answered that they were interested, while one out of three said that they were not interested.

As for whether they would vote for the best candidate or the least bad, 47% answered that they would vote for the best and 38% for the least bad. Finally, 68% of voters stated that they have a crystallized opinion on who they will vote for, while 21% that their decision is still fluid.

The poll was pan-Cypriot and was carried out from December 28 to 30 and from January 2 to 7 by the Cypronetwork company. It was conducted using the method of telephone interviews with the participation of 1250 citizens. The stratified random sampling method was followed and the sample was representative of the general population.
