Apply by February 2nd
On Thursday 12 January 2023, the application platform for the Charlemagne European Youth Prize opened.
The award is aimed at young people aged 16-30, and supports initiatives-projects that promote understanding and solidarity, but also the development of a common European identity and consciousness among EU residents.
It also highlights the daily work of young people across Europe to strengthen European democracy, while supporting their active participation in shaping Europe’s future.
The award is jointly managed by the European Parliament and the International Charlemagne Prize Foundation of Aachen.
Those interested can apply until February 2 (00:59 Greek time).
The rules
In order to be selected, programs must meet certain criteria:
to promote understanding between peoples
to promote the development of a common European identity and consciousness
to act as an example for the youth of Europe
to provide tangible examples of Europeans living together as a community
Timetable
January 12, 2023: start of the competition
February 2, 2023: deadline for submission of projects
March 2023: announcement of national winners
2023: Award ceremony in Aachen
Charlemagne Prize for Youth 2022
In 2022, the first prize went to the project “Orquestra Sem Fronteiras” (“Orchestra Without Borders”) from Portugal, which promotes cross-border cooperation between Portugal and Spain by harnessing the musical talents of the two countries. The ultimate goal is the mitigation of social and cultural inequalities.
